The unprecedented COVID crisis has exposed the existing gaps in the health system of Nepal, particularly in preparedness for health emergencies. One of the major challenges Nepal faced during COVID pandemic (1st and 2nd wave) was lack of well-equipped intensive/critical care units to treat the severe COVID cases. As Nepal is expecting the 3rd wave in near future, the government is also preparing to increase the critical care capacities of the tertiary hospitals throughout the country. Moreover, the emergence of new variants of concern (VOC) of COVID-19 with greater transmissibility has added further strain in critical care capacity of the country. Thus, SCI/GF is supporting the government’s COVID response by procuring the following medical equipment required for the critical care units.

Meiling 2~8℃ YC-55L Mini Medicinal Vaccine Refrigerator is equipped with high-precision temperature control system and high-sensitivity sensor, and adopts high-brightness digital temperature and humidity display, automatic temperature control, to ensure display accuracy of 0.1℃. The YC-55L refrigerator is equipped with a new compressor and condenser, which has better cooling performance and keeps the temperature uniformity within 1°C. It is air-cooled and has an automatic defrosting function. HCFC-FREE refrigerants bring more efficient cooling and ensure environmental protection.
